This exhibition includes material from the archives of the Catholic Diocese of Christchurch, private collections, and the Rare Books Collection of the Macmillan Brown Library of the University of Canterbury.

The exhibition is held in conjunction with the conference of the Australian and New Zealand Association for Medieval and Early Modern Studies. The 2024 conference theme is “Legacies and Relevance: Exploring the Medieval & Early Modern World Beyond Europe”.

Bishop Grimes’s Library: In 1980, the Catholic Diocese of Christchurch gifted 4597 books to the University of Canterbury, the core of which was the Grimes collection. Of these, 82 books are now designated part of the Rare Books Collection.
